Matthew Hirbour is a Special Education Compliance Coordinator based in Jackson, Wyoming, with a passion for empowering students with disabilities. Since 2017, he has dedicated his career to supporting diverse learners, helping them unlock their full potential.
Before moving to Jackson in 2019, Matt taught Special Education at an International School in Bangkok, Thailand, gaining a global perspective on individualized learning. He has worked with students from K-12, developing a deep understanding of the complexities involved in meeting each student's unique needs.
Matt is trained in Orton-Gillingham methodologies and is a Wilson Reading-trained interventionist, specializing in evidence-based literacy instruction. He holds a Master’s in Special Education Administration and actively supports teachers in enhancing their instructional practices.
Beyond education, Matt is committed to innovating technology to help learners become independent readers. He is currently developing AI-powered tools that provide real-time reading interventions, ensuring that students receive the personalized support they need to succeed.
Tigger Knecht is a dedicated Life Skills Special Education Teacher who works with young adults (18-22) with Down Syndrome, Autism, and cognitive disabilities, helping them build independence and confidence as they transition into adulthood. His hands-on, empathetic approach is shaped by both his own journey as a special education student and his diverse professional background.
Before entering the field of education, Tigger spent over two decades as a professional skier and tradesman, gaining real-world experience in perseverance, adaptability, and problem-solving. Having faced and overcome his own academic challenges, he recognized an opportunity to help students with learning disabilities navigate their struggles through a unique blend of real-world skills, resilience, and an unconventional perspective on education.
As an educator, Tigger is passionate about equipping students with the tools they need to succeed beyond the classroom, emphasizing practical skills, self-advocacy, and confidence-building. His mission is to redefine how students with disabilities engage with learning—making it accessible, meaningful, and empowering.
Tigger lives outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with his wife and two sons. When not in his classroom, he can be found surfing or skiing, continuing to embrace the adventurous spirit that has shaped his career and teaching philosophy. He is currently developing AI-powered tools that provide real-time reading interventions, ensuring that students receive the personalized support they need to succeed.
